Office Refurbishment for Blue Frontier at Old Sarum, Salisbury

With the help of Westcountry Group’s designers, we started planning the transformation of what was, to what is. The renovation took a total of four months from start to finish and we are extremely pleased with the outcome and think you’ll agree the building has been given a new lease of life. Their Requirements
Blue Frontier is a Salisbury-based web design and technology company. As the team grew, the leadership took the decision to move into new premises at Old Sarum. The new site gave them more room to spread out and space to build recreational areas around the team culture.
The building was a two-storey office block on an industrial estate, with no existing features of its own. Westcountry Group was brought in to turn the empty shell into a workspace built around Blue Frontier as a business.
The brief was ambitious. Blue Frontier wanted an office that would signal who they were to visitors, support the team across two floors and provide genuine recreational space rather than a token break-out corner.
Our solution
Our team took on the office as a full-shell refurbishment across both floors, planning the whole building around how Blue Frontier’s staff move through their day.
Two new state-of-the-art boardrooms give the team formal client meeting spaces. A large kitchen and contemporary dining area were positioned as social hubs, with a bar and built-in coffee tap reinforcing the space’s social use.
The recreational spaces give the office much of its character. A games room, a television lounge and a pool tournament setup give the team downtime options. Distinctive feature pieces mark the office out as Blue Frontier’s: a converted petrol pump used as a fridge and hot air balloon acoustic seating in the reception and lounge areas.
The renovation ran across a four-month programme, taking the empty shell through to a fully fitted workspace on schedule.
The Result
Blue Frontier has been in the completed office since the refurbishment finished, and the team’s response is captured in the quote at the top of this page. The two-storey layout gives the team the practical work areas they need as they continue to grow.
The recreational spaces have become part of how the team works, not an incidental extra.
