Thier Requirements
LEAF Studio School required a new science laboratory due to expansion and yet were challenged as they only had conventional classrooms. The current situation necessitated them having science lessons in an adjoining school which was inconvenient and wasted time with the students travelling between buildings. The school needed its own ‘in-house’ laboratory to address this, and the projected student growth going forwards.
The Solution
Westcountry Group designed a fully serviced SmartSpace science laboratory including gas, water and power to create a modern and appealing solution for the delivery of the curriculum to the schools’ budding scientists.
The addition of an adjoining prep room provided additional essential space to allow the safe storage of resources, equipment and chemicals. Gas and drainage connections were achieved by bringing the supplies in from the other end of the school, to turn this conventional classroom into a full laboratory provision. The final touch was a full wall graphic which set the whole room off perfectly.
The Result
LEAF Studio now has a fully functional science lab complete with gas, water, power and fume cabinet to deliver the curriculum safely and effectively within the existing building. The space is modern, bright and engaging for the young scientists to learn and is a pleasure for staff to teach in.
