Their Requirements
Christ The King College is a Catholic secondary school in Newport on the Isle of Wight. The college’s main hall carries multiple functions across a single day, from lunchtime service through to assemblies, exams and drama or music rehearsals.
The college came to Westcountry Group with a brief to modernise the dining furniture and reclaim more time in the hall for these other activities. The brief was to specify a dining solution that would store neatly when not in use, deploy quickly for service and free up the hall for everything else it had to accommodate.
The Solution
Our team specified the Versa Wall Pocket system. The Wall Pockets store the dining furniture flush against the wall, taking up no storage space beyond the wall itself. When the hall needs to be set up for dining, the tables and benches unfold outwards from the pocket in minutes.
A traditional setup would have required a dedicated storage area and a slow manual reset between activities. The Wall Pocket approach removes both.
Because the tables and benches unfold independently, the college can lay the hall out flexibly. Full dining setup for lunchtime, benches only for assemblies or exams, or a completely clear floor for PE and drama.
The Result
The dining furniture at Christ The King is now stored on the wall of the hall itself, freeing up storage space elsewhere in the college. The setup and reset time between dining service and other activities has fallen dramatically.
The college can programme the hall more flexibly across a school day, and the wider timetable is no longer bent around the dining hall’s setup constraints.
